Radiosynoviorthesis (RSO) - Recent European and Irish Clinical Experience
Europe's leading expert in the field of radiosynoviorthesis gave a lecture to an audience of about 50 peole at the Eduction & Research Centre of St. Vincent's University Hospital on June 22nd.
Prof. Gynter Modder from Cologne spoke in detail about the clinical efficacy of treating both osteo and rheumatoid arthritis using Beta emitting radioisotopes injected into the synovium of affected joints. With over 7,000 patients passing through his clinic on an annual basis, Prof. Modder was able to share his vast experience with the interested rheumatologists, radiologists and nuclear medicne personnel who attended.
Paddy Gilligan, Medical Physicist fromthe Mater Private Hospital, also gave a lecture on their experience with the first 7 patients that have been treated to date this year.
Alos amongst the interested attendees were 2 of the patients.
