We are hiring a Materials Handling and Control Assistant.

MAIN DUTIES (K.R.A.)

Goods In

  • Load and unload goods from delivery vans
  • Ensure that correct quantity has been received by comparing received goods with information on the work order
  • Identify any damaged or missing goods and record pertinent information
  • Ensure that delivery forms are signed only upon satisfaction of completed order
  • Move received goods to appropriate storage areas using mechanical equipment such as pallet lifters
  • Make sure that all goods are labelled properly using appropriate lot and item numbers

Goods Out

  • Take orders from office on a daily basis and review them thoroughly
  • Pick out ordered goods and ensure that they are in good condition
  • Pick, Pack & Dispatch orders – electronically and physically
  • Move picked goods from storage areas to delivery pallets using pallet lifters
  • Prepare a series of documents such as dispatch notes and labels
  • Record movement goods using barcode scanners

Stock Control

  • Implement inventory & stock take control procedures
  • Optimizing space utilization
  • Checking and controlling surgical equipment and associated implants
  • Quality control and service standards
  • Allocate storage space for items based on their types and sizes
  • Isolate and report any broken or damaged goods at the time of order picking
  • Restock surgical sets, on and off site

General

  • Ensure that warehouse workers comply with the company’s safety and security procedures
  • Ensure quality control of goods coming in and going out of the warehouse
  • Compliance with Distribution Procedures for Medical Goods & Pharmaceuticals
  • Be available to use the company van for deliveries to customers directly.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and relevant SOP’s

SKILLS

  • Keen knowledge of schematic drawings and maps of warehouses to find goods listed on order forms
  • Able to read and interpret instructions on pick lists and shipments with a view to pull and ship orders accurately
  • Physical agility aimed at carrying and moving heavy boxes between destinations
  • Functional knowledge of operating pallet jacks and forklifts to assist in moving goods from storage areas to shipment pallets
  • Able to handle circumstances brought on by damage or untoward occurrences
  • Good attention to detail targeted at handling labelling and packing duties effectively
  • Exceptional planning and time management skills aimed at ensuring proper storage of received shipments so that they can be pulled in a time efficient manner
  • Operation of computer and barcode scanning system
  • Comprehensive knowledge of following and endorsing warehouse safety protocols to ensure both goods and workers’ protection
  • Complete understanding of implementing and maintaining the security of warehouse in terms of goods, appliances and equipment
  • Technologically savvy with a great ability to maintain electronic records and create numeric reports pertaining to incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Comprehensive understanding of goods retrieval systems and their limitations and ways to overcome the limitation to ensure timely retrieval

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two years’ work experience in a warehouse or similar environment
  • Clean B driving license
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel) (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Accounting software – Sage 50 - (advantage)
