Who We Are
Electramed has been delivering quality medical products since 1972. We source the most innovative solutions and deliver these with professional technical and operational support, enabling our customers to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients.
Electramed was founded in 1972 by Eddie O'Grady who started the company from his home, selling tablet counting machines to retail and hospital pharmacies. The Kirby Lester KL7 electronic capsule counter was the first of its type in Ireland. Over the years, almost every retail pharmacy in Ireland would have used a Kirby Lester device and the company still supplies a version of the product today – 50 years later.
1972
The Company moved to Phibsborough in Dublin 7 and began to supply radiopharmaceuticals from CIS Bio International (France) to the emerging nuclear medicine specialty in Ireland. Radiation protection from Wardray (UK) was also added to our portfolio. 
1976
Electramed began wholesaling prescription pharmaceuticals from Orion Pharma (Finland).
1980
Having outgrown the much-loved space in Phibsborough, the company moved to a converted woolen mill in Artane, Dublin 5. The company also began to distribute for Kirsch, a German refrigerator and freezer manufacturer. 
1985
Moved to Kinsealy, north County Dublin. Dan O’Grady had joined the company at this stage, and the business began to add more medical equipment and devices to their offering. Uresil drainage products (USA) and the AV Impulse (UK) were added to our portfolio. 
1994
Orthofix (Ita) was the first company with orthopaedic surgical implants that was added to Electramed’s range, which paved the way for later additions in this segment. 
2006
Moved to our current location – Airside business Park, Swords, Co. Dublin
2008
Eddie O’Grady retired from the company. The business began to focus on medical & surgical consumable devices.
2010
Became a supplier for Medartis (Sui) and OPED (Ger) further expanding our orthopaedic and trauma portfolio 
2014
This September we are celebrating Electramed’s 50th anniversary... 
2022
As part of Diploma Life Sciences, the Electramed, Accuscience and Technopath businesses deliver the technical expertise, specialist knowledge, and close relationships to deliver the value-add solutions our customers need across the IVD, Scientific and Med-Tech sectors. Our product offerings are supported by technical applications, service and customer support teams.
